Valerie’s main workload for IBM was conceptualising and implementing the high-octane annual functions that were IBM Recognition, celebrating and rewarding the company’s high achievers. In destinations that would range across the Asia Pacific, the US, Australia and New Zealand, the number of attendees would average four to five thousand in four waves over a three-week period. These large-scale events were 12 months in the planning with the destinations planned two years prior.
With complete responsibility for delivering these massive events on time, on budget and with new innovations each year, Valerie liaised and collaborated with lighting and staging companies, multimedia and presentation companies, musical agents, arts organisations, function centres and other venues, airlines and couriers, fashion designers, graphic designers and even chefs. In doing so over many years Valerie built a vast network of contacts, both internationally and in Australia.
